This did not happen when the URL was called without all of the parameters passed by the AutoResponder.

The reason for this is not the VLM but Apache’s mod_security on your HostGator account.

According to this HostGator forum post the HostGator support can help you with this so that your VLM installation will work.

That should solve the problem :)

The latest version includes 15 “Tweet This” buttons I had previously released on my blog but which have now been fully integrated into the VLM for ease of use.

The long-awaited “lost password” feature is also included in this release which means that if a user has forgotten his password he can now just use the “Forgotten your password?” link in the login form to have a new password created for him automatically and sent via email to the address used for logging in.

For all other changes please see the list below. I’m now focusing mostly on the development of the ViralListMachine Pro which will contain lots of new features you’ve been asking for so updates to version 1 are unlikely unless bug related.

Bug Fixes

  • When choosing a table prefix that was a shorter version of a table prefix used in another VLM installation using the same MySQL database setup detected those tables as the same tables which they weren’t.

New Features

  • You can now reclaim tables of a previous installation during the setup process so if you have deleted the completed installation without touching the database and you reinstall the latest version you can reuse the tables the old version has used.
  • Includes additional “Tweet This” graphics in the assets directory.
  • Includes “lost password” function to allow the user to receive a new password via email if he has forgotten his password.

Removing The Powered By Link

Please note that I have now set a fixed price of $25 for being allowed to remove the “Powered by” link from the software. I’d like to spread the word regarding the VLM virally so removing a link that might refer a new user is not something I’d like to see (that’s why it’s not allowed in the license) but I understand that some of you want to have no distractions on your signup pages that’s why I decided to allow the removal of the link for a fixed price. If you’ve already paid a smaller amount before you don’t need to pay the difference of course. Be happy ;)

  2. Custom “Confirmation Page” which redirects the user to the confirmed.php file on your server after he has clicked on the confirmation link in the email received from the autoresponder service. Furthermore it needs to support posting the user data back to your confirmation URL (either via HTTP GET or POST), because the VLM needs to know which user account has to be activated.

So that’s basically all. As far as I know most autoresponders do not allow posting the user data back to the confirmation page.

If you’d like me to create a plugin for your specific autoresponder that supports both features stated above that’s no problem. You just have to create a mailing list with your autoresponder where both the “Thank You” URL and the “Confirmation URL” point to http://www.virallistmachine.net/test.php so that I can both develop and test the code I have created.

After I’ve finished creating the plugin you can just delete the mailing list used for testing.

I appreciate your support – I’d love to support every autoresponder on the planet though I can’t promise to implement any specific autoresponder but I’ll do my best.

I’m currently planning to create a version 2.0 with a lot more features which I might not make available for free anymore. But currently I’m not planning to pull VLM 1.0 off the market soon. And smaller improvements (especially support for more autoresponders) will surely make their way into version 1.

So it’s not the usual “give away something for free and everything else costs tons of money” ;)
