ViralListMachine - List Building In The 21st Century |
I’d like to get feedback on your own ViralListMachine installations so I’d be happy if you could just post the URL of your VLM installation and write something on the purpose of the site and what you are giving away. This is actually a way for you to advertise your VLM-powered site for free but please don’t just post the URL, tell us something about it. If you have also created custom themes and video I’d appreciate sharing them. Tips and tricks and optimizations are also very welcome. There have been several people contacting me or commenting on this blog who have experienced problems with the ViralListMachine confirmation link which when clicked (e.g. through AWeber) showed a “403 Forbidden” message. This did not happen when the URL was called without all of the parameters passed by the AutoResponder. The reason for this is not the VLM but Apache’s mod_security on your HostGator account. According to this HostGator forum post the HostGator support can help you with this so that your VLM installation will work. That should solve the problem Version 1.06 has been released. The error “A server error occured. Please try again later. Got error code 0 from server.” on signup has been fixed (only occured with some web hosts). You can download the update and the full version on ViralListMachineGiveAway.com What’s New In 1.05The latest version includes 15 “Tweet This” buttons I had previously released on my blog but which have now been fully integrated into the VLM for ease of use. The long-awaited “lost password” feature is also included in this release which means that if a user has forgotten his password he can now just use the “Forgotten your password?” link in the login form to have a new password created for him automatically and sent via email to the address used for logging in. For all other changes please see the list below. I’m now focusing mostly on the development of the ViralListMachine Pro which will contain lots of new features you’ve been asking for so updates to version 1 are unlikely unless bug related. Removing The Powered By LinkPlease note that I have now set a fixed price of $25 for being allowed to remove the “Powered by” link from the software. I’d like to spread the word regarding the VLM virally so removing a link that might refer a new user is not something I’d like to see (that’s why it’s not allowed in the license) but I understand that some of you want to have no distractions on your signup pages that’s why I decided to allow the removal of the link for a fixed price. If you’ve already paid a smaller amount before you don’t need to pay the difference of course. Be happy

I have just released version 1.04 of the ViralListMachine which fixes some bugs and introduces a new easy update installation system for future updates. You’ll notice a new button “Updates” in the admin area. Changes

In theory every autoresponder available can be supported if the following features are supported by the autoresponder:
So that’s basically all. As far as I know most autoresponders do not allow posting the user data back to the confirmation page. If you’d like me to create a plugin for your specific autoresponder that supports both features stated above that’s no problem. You just have to create a mailing list with your autoresponder where both the “Thank You” URL and the “Confirmation URL” point to http://www.virallistmachine.net/test.php so that I can both develop and test the code I have created. After I’ve finished creating the plugin you can just delete the mailing list used for testing. I appreciate your support – I’d love to support every autoresponder on the planet though I can’t promise to implement any specific autoresponder but I’ll do my best. I just thought I’d put this up for you to see that the ViralListMachine actually has more features then Frank Kern’s Good Karma List Machine. The VLM is not “based” on the GKLM, it is a completely independent product that I have developed – it doesn’t use a single line of code from the GKLM. I have just released version 1.03 of the ViralListMachine which fixes a problem with Google Chrome which doesn’t show any images at all. That problem existed since version 1.02. Sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused to you – I strongly recommend updating to V1.03. I can’t promise that I’m going to implement all of the features or that I’m going to make them available in version 1.0, but I’ll do my best. I’m currently planning to create a version 2.0 with a lot more features which I might not make available for free anymore. But currently I’m not planning to pull VLM 1.0 off the market soon. And smaller improvements (especially support for more autoresponders) will surely make their way into version 1.
